Ageing brings unique journeys, especially for LGBTQ individuals and couples.

Join us to explore how to navigate physical and mental health challenges, strengthen connections to reduce loneliness, and access support within our healthcare system for a more active and fulfilling life. Let’s celebrate resilience and find strength in community as we embrace each new season in life.

We will be discussing these topics:

    • Physical and mental health challenges encountered by LGBTQ individuals and couples later in life
    • Loneliness, social isolation, and the critical role of community and support systems
    • Accessibility within Singapore’s public healthcare system and available subsidy options

Shania Yusof
Volunteer at The T Project

Shania’s life journey is a powerful testament to her resilience and unwavering commitment to acceptance. After a 20-year battle with gender dysphoria, she finally embraced her identity as a transgender woman. Since 2005, Shania has been actively involved in special-needs education, working closely with neuro-diverse individuals in teaching, course development, training, and business development. Recently, she transitioned into the arts sector as a theatre-maker, participating in the production trans:mission, which featured an all-transgender cast. Her work also extends to grants management.

Shania’s dedication to the transgender community is equally impactful. She participates in outreach events, befriends shelter residents through The T Project, and provides peer support at Greenhouse for LGBTQIA+ addiction and trauma recovery. After recently completing her gender confirmation surgery, Shania now lives authentically and confidently. She continues to mentor others, and her journey is a testament to her determination to champion inclusivity, self-discovery, and empowerment.
